We recommend you start off by browsing through the abstract paintings section on SINGULART. Ask yourself how each painting makes you feel, paying attention to colors, shapes, size and composition. Then, consider what kind of atmosphere you want to create in your home and decide on the room you are thinking of hanging the painting in. This will help you determine which abstract painting is right for you.
Large-scale abstract paintings are trending right now. They immediately capture the viewer’s attention and truly leave a long-lasting impression. Minimalist abstract paintings are second on the list, with their understated charm and calming effect on the viewer. Textured abstracts are another trend to watch out for in 2023. The pairing of rough and smooth creates a delicious combination!
Abstract art is a movement that developed at the end of the 19th Century during a period of great scientific and intellectual change. Figurative painting became outdated as artists were looking towards a freer mode of artistic expression. Abstract painting consists of taking an element from the real world and representing it in the painting but in a simplified or reorganised way, in order to highlight a message, emotion or the artists’ own version of reality. Abstract painting has its origins in Impressionism and Cubism, movements which already pioneered a considerable move away from recognisable forms. The abstract paintings of Kandinsky, Malevitch and Delaunay were the first to explore "pure abstraction". In an abstract painting, there is often intense colours and linear and geometric forms. Abstract painting is also a term that can be used when talking about monochrome paintings : paintings that are completely covered in a single colour. The artist, Yves Klein explored the chromatic richness of the colour blue in his large abstract paintings, while the paintings of the Italian artist Lucio Fontana focused on the colour yellow or red. The famous French painter, Pierre Soulages, worked almost exclusively with black.
Abstract art has influenced many artistic movements such as Orphism, Abstract Expressionism, minimal art and conceptual art. Even today, abstract style paintings remain very popular among artists. SINGULART brings together a number of artists who demonstrate, through their abstract paintings, a great sense of artistic freedom. SINGULART is one of the best places to buy a modern and contemporary painting: the artist Daniela Schweinsberg, for example creates poetic and colourful abstract paintings, while Niki Hare presents abstract work that is both expressive and gestural, and usually executed in black and white. Ewa Hauton’s colourful abstract paintings invite us to reflect on femininity. Our abstract paintings are always unique and made by hand.
