Black Eagle
The eagle is a symbol of empire, even more a symbol than the lion. It's not by chance that bad-tempered, imperious Zeus (whom the Romans replaced with Jupiter) chose the eagle as his mascot, while the more liberal Demeter ended up with the lion. The eagle found its way onto Roman standards by way of Ptolemaic Egypt, which had in turn borrowed…

Original drawing by Gustavo Leutun based on a real scene captured by the same author. Leutun never tires of interpreting the same streets over and over again, since he always finds something different, light or movement. With simple lines that are at the same time inaccurate, he makes him feel very comfortable in this way of drawing.

The drawing has a philosophical train of thought. It contemplates the existence of the individual. The general connection and the own meaning of uniqueness with all its facets of imperfection and irritation. The pictorial elements reinforce the idea of the drawing and are immediately confusing. The viewer is challenged. The picture has a large field…

A word about the artwork
This piece describes a torso from the waist down that appears dressed in pants with only the seams left showing what the clothing hides. Clothing as an element that shows more than it hides. That pun on many of the feminine items and dresses that reveal the body underneath.

Drawing is an artistic genre consisting of two-dimensional representations of objects, characters or animals, with linear shapes and contours. Drawing is one of the oldest art forms, which can be traced back to the Paleolithic period to Egypt or ancient Greece. Drawing gained great importance during the Renaissance: it was seen as the necessary precondition for the creation of any work of art, painting, sculpture or architecture. In texts written during this period, drawing had a fundamental role and for the first time artists were drawing with perspective . In the 17th century drawing is viewed as a privileged means of study for apprentices, who from the beginning of their apprenticeship would have to practice drawing of the nude figure or anatomical drawing. If the sketch was not valued for a piece in its own right, they were kept as sketches for paintings at the time, and drawing sketches gained autonomy in the nineteenth century where it was considered as a true work of art. Modern artists used drawing extensively during the 20th century; Gouache drawings or the watercolor drawings of Picasso or Matisse are still considered as true masterpieces.
